...i admit it. i really do have to stop going into op-shops. i know. i do.

but if i did that, well, i wouldn't have found this:

the best part is that i bought them for a specific project, which means they won't just get added to my stash. *coughs* except for the bit where i actually bought all of them for the same project. and i only need one. so i am pretty sure the square tablecloth is the winner- oh well. they really are lovely though, aren't they...

my creative space

so, my creative space this week is full of fabric

pulled from my fabric stash box and 

strewn around the room and 

sorted into colour piles. the first steps in my next project. eek, how exciting...

camberwelly

ahh, camberwell market - such a lovely place for a sunday morning jaunt. (for those who haven't heard of it, every sunday morning there is a rotary trash and treasure type market in camberwell - a suburb of melbourne). fondly referred to as camberwelly by many (well,  sayraphim and i call it that - or maybe its just me).

anyway, it was a slightly unexpected trip to camberwelly this morning. sayraphim and i planned it last week, but given the rain and crazy weather here in melbourne over the last few days - we weren't sure it would be on (its a fair-weather market, outside in a carpark and is cancelled when it rains). we went anyway, with the plan to just go out for breakfast if it wasn't on. but we were in luck and dampness aside - there was fun and bargains to be had. 

among other things - i scored:

a great tablecloth and serviette set (although technically, this was part of a $3 haul of sayraphim's)

my creative space (with a fabric stash confession)

i am always amazed at the beautiful, neat and organised fabric stashes there are out there. (which are often showcased as part of kirsty's wonderful creative space meme). as i've mentioned, my creative space tends not to be as neat as other peoples'. but so far i have avoided talking about my fabric stash. its also not so neat. particularly like this week, when i was fossiking through to look for some fabric for one of this week's projects. in my defense, my fabric stash actually lives in the big plastic box, and usually i am able to squash the lid on...

op-shop goodness

so, there's been lots of busy-ness 'round these parts, but very little crafting. but even when there's not time for crafting, i can usually manage a little bit of op-shopping... i love love love this fabric - and i have such plans!

obsession confession

ok, so. i may have popped into another opshop this week to feed my current pillowcase obsession. opps... (and actually, the floral one on the end there is from my fabric stash, but it happily joins the others). i can't wait for tomorrow - it will be pillowcase central round here.

a new obsession

so, i am an op-shopper (thrift-shopper) from way back. but recently i have developed a new op-shop obsession. pillow cases. its kinda weird, but also makes much sense. see it all started with the vintage pillow case veggie bags i made a little while ago. i am in love with them. i use them all the time and am finding that 4 is not enough. so a few weeks ago i popped down to the op shop to grab another pillow case to make some more (using pillowcases is brilliant, as some of the seams are already done, and being second hand or vintage - they are often well worn and therefore very light weight). i came home with a couple and put them on a pile of my things to do. then today, i popped into an op-shop during lunch (it was right next to the post office) and came out with another 3 (oh, and a brown and orange linen tablecloth). the fabric in the pillowcases is really lovely. i enjoy the patterns and the different styles. today i came up with a great plan too. a new pillowcase project i'm pretty excited about it, i really think it will work - now its just finding the time to make all these pillow case projects up!

quick birthday present (for a 3 year old)

so, i am blessed to have an incredible fabric stash, inherited from my grandmother. it comes in really handy for days like today. the kind of days when you realise that you have not yet bought a present for the three year old, whose birthday party you are attending the next day. a quick fossik in my fabric stash box, and i pulled out the perfect fabric with neon pink and purple flowers - just what a three year old girl needs. so i made this bag up today, lining it with black and white polka-dots (also found in the fabric stash). it was pretty quick to put together, i just sewed the lining and fabric together, then zipped down the sides. i ended up sewing the strap on by hand, as it just seemed easier that way. now all i have to do is wrap it up!
